Festival Director
Ellen Wedner, Co-Founder and Festival Director of KidFlix Festival is as well, the Festival Director of the Miami Jewish Film Festival, and Artistic Director of Fire Island Pines International Film Festival. Wedner specializes in community building festivals that celebrate niche markets. Ellen also heads the CAJE-MJFF Young Filmmaker Institute geared to Miami area teenagers interested in creating Jewish-themed films. Previous experience includes positions as the Founding Producer of the Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, and Events Manger and then Managing Director of the Miami International Film Festival. Since 1996, she has operated Wedner & Friends, an event planning company for non-profit organizations in Miami and New York, producing concerts, arts festivals, and many fundraising events for clients such as American Red Cross, City of Miami Beach, Comedy Central, Downtown Miami Partnership, HBO and many more. Events include “Dance for Life”, “Jazz on the Beach”, “First Night Miami Beach”, “Surfside Arts Festival”, “Flagler Fest”, “Manhattan Nights in Miami,” and “2nd Thursdays-Arts Night on the Beach”. Prior to moving to Miami, she was the producer of television shows for Time Warner Cable of NYC and owned a video production company.
Managing Director
Tom Davia, Managing Director of KidFlix Festival, is no stranger to the world of film festivals. With over a decade of film industry experience, his knowledge and expertise have come from a broad variety of positions at various film festivals worldwide. Whether it be Programming, Print Traffic, Technical Logistics, Operations, Industry & Sales, Filmmaker Services, Program Administration, Development, or Publications, Tom has really done it all. As a highly respected member of the film community and the film festival circuit, he is regarded as an expert on what makes a film festival work and effective film festival management. Tom has held upper management and key consulting positions at many festivals and film organizations, including nine years at the Miami International Film Festival, five years at the Dubai International Film Festival, four years at the Miami Jewish Film Festival, and various assignments with the Bahamas International Film Festival, Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, Independent Feature Project (IFP), the Global Film Initiative's "Global Lens" and the Sundance Institute, among others. A Cornell University graduate with an ear for other tongues and raised as a global nomad in many different nations, he brings an international focus to his work and the belief that film is a universal language for all ages.
Development Director
Keith Cromley, KidFlix Development Director, began his career in business by managing steamship lines in New Orleans for six years after graduating from the Thunderbird School of Global Management with his MBA. A stint in Dallas handling logistics for International Paper followed, then three years as COO of an international trading company in Memphis. He spent a year developing Spanish language advertising in Southern California. Keith moved to Miami in 1992 to develop funding for HIV prevention and services at Health Crisis Network, where he was instrumental in building the White Party Week and AIDS Walk Miami by appealing to a wide variety of funding sources. For six years, Keith was a member of Miami-Dade County’s HIV/AIDS Partnership, the second largest county board that he chaired in 2003-2004, helping to manage over $50 million in federal and state funding. In addition, he worked five years in the biotech field for Bayer HealthCare across the U.S, where he managed community and governmental affairs. Recently he has worked with local arts organizations, including Miami Contemporary Dance Company, the Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, and currently is administrator of the Miami Gay Men’s Chorus. Today, Keith is also an adjunct Professor of Management at the Andreas School of Business at Barry University.
Marketing Director
Sheila Stieglitz, KidFlix Marketing Director began, as Communications Director at the Dave and Mary Alper Jewish Community Center, where she was responsible for marketing and public relations. With her vast media contacts and wide range of experience, Sheila formed her own public relations firm in 2003. Some of her clients include: Dave and Mary Alper JCC, The Deering Estate Foundation; Miami Jewish Film Festival; Gold Coast Theatre Company; Deering Seafood Festival; Opera Gallery, Bal Harbour; The Margaux Early Childhood School; The Miami Coalition of Christians and Jews; Mothers’ Voices 10th Anniversary Gala; Margaux’s Miracle Foundation; and Fit For Life. For the past six years, she has run the “I Have a Dream” art club for children, ages 6 – 12 years, at Phillis Wheatley Elementary School in Overtown. The club uses art as a vehicle to help children express themselves and grow emotionally through a series of fun, challenging and thought-provoking activities. In 1983, the Stieglitz family founded the Thanksgiving Basket Fund, which provides holiday meals for 400 families annually throughout Miami-Dade County. Sheila is the recipient of the Claude Pepper Memorial Award for Volunteer Service and the Harry Gunter Service Award. |
